On the Feast of the Annunciation

I managed to drag myself out of bed at 5:45 this morning, something which we used to do, but have had a hard time doing ever since daylight savings time started (how is this saving daylight?  It’s actually wasting my day!).  Not getting up on time really wrecks the flow of the routine we’d established, [...]

Florida Fraud

If you live in Florida, and you’ve used your debit card at a Sweetbay grocery store in the last six months, you should immediately contact your bank and ask them to change your card for a new one. Alternatively, you could wait until the credit card fraud company calls you up to ask you [...]

Divine Mercy Sunday

For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Teresa is like a lizard

David made this startling announcement at the dinner table tonight, but when questioned he said that wasn’t really what he meant.  What he actually meant, he said, was that her mouth was like a lizard’s mouth.  Insofar as neither mouth has teeth, that is.  ‘Spose that’s right.

Further Moving Update

Update on House

The second radon test came back at the same level as the first one, so we will be asking the seller to put in a radon mitigation system, in addition to the other items I mentioned before. Our realtor put together the document with our requests on it, and we signed and faxed that [...]

Making Peanut Butter

We’ve been making our own peanut butter lately. Delightfully easy, and very good! I just dump three cups of peanuts in my food processor,
then run the processor for about two to three minutes,
and when it all clumps together, it’s done!

Metamorphosis

A while ago David found a few Black Swallowtail caterpillars in the garden in the dill plant, and we put them in a container with some fresh dill for them to eat.
It was only a few days before they spun themselves cocoons, and then a little over a week later, they emerged, one by [...]

Breviary experiment working out so far

I have been saying Morning Prayer every morning this year, and that is a pretty ingrained habit by now. My husband and I say it together, first thing after we drink our morning coffee. That’s one key we have found to helping make something into a habit: attach it mentally to something [...]
